Is BA Course Closed in DU SOL?

SOL admissions for UG and PG have started but there is a bad news for students that in SOL DU, there will be no BA Hons. Psychology studies. Let’s talk about this in detail.

There is an article that is printed in today’s newspaper that in ODL mode, there will be no BA Psychology Honours Studies. It simply means, there was a course in SOL, named BA Psychology Honours which was started in 2023, has been closed now.

So, it doesn’t mean there will no admissions for BA Program, BA Hons. Political Science, BA Hons. Economics, BA Hons. Computer Applications. These courses are opened as usual and admissions in these courses are still going on, but there will be no admissions from now on in BA Psychology Honours.

Basically Distance Education Bureau(DEB) has refused to teach Psychology Hons. ODL mode. The batches which have been taught from previous years will be continued. So, those who have already got admission in this course before will not face any harm.

How to Apply for DU SOL Internship Program 2025?

This course was very popular among students. More than 1500 students have taken admission in this course in the past two years. It was the second most popular course in DU regular colleges, but it is in only 5-6 colleges.

The number of seats in colleges are limited, because of which it was started in DU SOL. In SOL, the number of seats are unlimited and fees for this course in SOL was also very less.

This course is being discussed among Allied Health Council of India. There are hopes that from next year, this course may resume. For now, Allied Health of India have clearly mentioned in their rules that in ODL mode, Psychology honours won’t be taught.

Teachers are saying that to benefit regular colleges, this course being closed. As good amount fees is taken from students from private and regular colleges.

To conclude, you cannot take admission in Psychology Hons. course in DU SOL as of now. It may resume next year. Admissions for other BA courses are opened for all.
